The 2026 Mahindra XEV 9S is one of the most awaited electric SUVs from Mahindra’s Born Electric lineup. After unveiling its ambitious BE and XEV series, Mahindra is gearing up to launch the XEV 9S as a powerful, tech-loaded, and sustainable SUV designed specifically for global and Indian markets.
Design and Exterior
The XEV 9S represents Mahindra’s new design philosophy that combines futuristic styling with muscular SUV DNA. Designed by Mahindra’s UK-based Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) studio, the SUV features a closed aerodynamic front grille, aggressive LED DRLs, and a coupe-inspired sloping roofline. The bold C-shaped lighting signature on both ends highlights Mahindra’s EV identity. Expect large alloy wheels, flush door handles, and panoramic glass roofing to give it a premium electric-SUV appeal.
Interior and Cabin Experience
Inside, the 2026 Mahindra XEV 9S delivers a high-tech and luxurious experience. The dual-screen setup (for infotainment and digital instrument cluster) will use next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit platforms. Premium materials, ambient lighting, and a flat-bottom steering wheel enhance comfort and aesthetics. Features such as connected car tech, voice-enabled controls, and over-the-air (OTA) updates will make it one of the smartest EVs in its class.
Performance and Battery System
Reports from Autocar India and CarDekho suggest that the XEV 9S will offer multiple powertrain options — likely dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) and single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variants. The battery capacity could range between 80 kWh and 100 kWh, delivering a range of up to 550 km (WLTP). The SUV is also expected to support 800V architecture for ultra-fast DC charging, similar to luxury EVs like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Acceleration from 0–100 km/h could take just under 5 seconds, making it one of the quickest Indian EVs ever built.
Technology and Safety
The Mahindra XEV 9S will be loaded with advanced driver-assistance features. Expect ADAS Level 2+, 360-degree cameras, autonomous emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.
The vehicle will also feature regen braking modes, battery-preconditioning, and smart route planning that integrates charging station data in real-time. Mahindra’s new INGLO platform, shared with the BE series, ensures superior crash protection and thermal battery safety.
Expected Launch and Price
According to Mahindra’s official roadmap and credible sources like TopGear India, the Mahindra XEV 9S is expected to launch by late 2026 or early 2027. The starting price could be around ₹45–₹55 lakh (ex-showroom India), targeting premium EV buyers who want performance, space, and sustainability.
